Rashid’s style and precision in drumming is being recognized throughout the music industry…upon meeting Drumhead Magazine’s, Jonathan Mover, Jonathan would later write in the magazine…”Rashid plays with the maturity of someone twice his age. He has a dangerous combination of chops, groove and impeccable time, well balanced and expertly displayed”. A resident of South Jersey, Rashid is a self-taught musician, he began playing drums at the age of three and professionally for churches and choirs at the age of seven. With music being a part of the fabric woven throughout his family, Rashid comes from a long line of musical talent, singers and musicians. He is the son of Pastors and Musical Director at his local church.
As an independent Artist, Rashid is currently touring with multi-platinum and nine time grammy award winning artist John Legend, and Musical Director for Artist/Actress Jill Scott 2015 “Woman” album summer tour. For the past 7 years, he’s “kept the beat” through John Legend’s Evolver, Made to Love and All of Me tours, in between the John Legend tours Rashid tours with Jill Scott. He has also toured with Eric Roberson, Goapele, N.E.R.D., Diddy Dirty Money, JCole, Alicia Keys and K. Michelle. To add to his credits, Rashid is listed among Cirque du Soleil’s roster of producers and drummers, he’s been featured in Drumhead and Modern Drummer Magazines. During his down time, Rashid is working on his solo project, titled “Another Side of Me”.
